Assessing and Treating Forward Head Posture (FHP) – Forward Head Posture (FHP) is one of the most common postures that massage therapists encounter due to societal and occupational influences.  Common pain complaints often include migraine or headache pain, neck pain, upper- and mid-back pain, and can mimic carpal tunnel pain. Assessing and Treating TMJ Dysfunction – Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Dysfunction affects approximately 25% of the population. Massage is an often overlooked, yet extremely effective, treatment for TMJ Dysfunction. Assessing and Treating Pelvic Tilt – The pelvis is the center of gravity. Misalignment, also referred to as pelvic tilt, can cause significant pain and dysfunction for our clients. Anterior pelvic tilt changes the degree of lumbar lordosis leading to back pain and disc degeneration. Lateral pelvic tilt changes the degree of hip abduction leading to hip and back pain. Treating Sciatica – Sciatica is estimated to affect up to 43% of the population, typically developing between ages of 30 and 50. The pain from sciatica is an excruciating, shooting pain that makes standing or sitting nearly impossible. Help your clients with sciatica by learning: common causes and underlying pathologies of sciatica, anatomy involved in sciatica, and guidelines and hands-on practice for treatment incorporating neuromuscular techniques. Treatment Planning – Having a solid treatment planning methodology increases the quality of your massage sessions. Learn the SOAP methodology to enhance your treatment planning, methods for gathering subjective and objective data including common assessments, and an introduction to common shorthand for completing SOAP treatment notes.
